Dallas HSAA Blue Angels Summer Team Grabs Second Place

PrimeTime Sports Basketball Tournament 11th/12th Grade "School" Division

June 22-24, 2007

In the Dallas Blue Angels first "official" outing of the summer, the high school boys basketball team proved that it can play with the best of them. After sweeping through Pool Play with a 4-0 record against both public and large private schools, the Blue Angels found itself in a "favorite" role as it went into Medal Bracket competition as a #1 Seed. The road to the championship was not easy though. In the semifinals against a 4A public school, after being behind the whole game, the Blue Angels fought back to tie the score and take the game into overtime. The tenacity paid off as the Blue Angels hung on to win in the overtime period, 59-57.

In the championship game against a very talented 5A public school varsity that had already placed "high" in three tournaments this summer, the Blue Angels kept it close for most of the game, but had to settle for Second Place, 83-75. Fortunately, the Blue Angels Second Place finish qualified it for the PrimeTime Sports National Tournament on July 25-29.

Coach Threadgill, head varsity coach for the HSAA Blue Angels, said the boys "played really well and wouldn't back down from anyone." He also went on to say that the Blue Angels Summer Team will play a couple of more tournaments this summer, including the National Tournament, which should get them ready for next season's strong competition.

Members of the Blue Angels Summer Team include the following players and coaches:
Micah Boyd, Jeff Brooks, Grant Clothier, Carter Davis, Ollie Day, Alec Joss, Jordan Martin, Matt Miller, Cameron Threadgill, Ryan Threadgill, Coach Phil Threadgill, Asst Coach Dave Joss
