About Dallas HSAA Football

Thank you for your interest in HSAA Football! First, and foremost, the Dallas HSAA Angels football team exists to provide homeschooled athletes with the benefits of participating in competitive football in a Christian atmosphere. Please review our Statement of Faith here.

The organization desires to provide the athletes with instruction in the skills required for playing football and is committed to modeling and teaching Christian character traits, including self-discipline, self-respect, respect for authority, and good sportsmanship.

During the 2022 season, the Varsity team won the Homeschool Texas State Tournament and was the runner-up for the NHFA Division 2 National Homeschool Championship. The Middle School team went undefeated!

During the 2023 season, the Varsity team won the NHFA Division 3 National Homeschool Championship.

Plus, we have multiple Dallas HSAA football players who have gone on to play football at the collegiate level

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Our football program is for homeschoolers. Please read the eligibility requirements here. We currently have two teams; one for middle school and one for high school (varsity). Below are the age requirements for both levels:

- Middle School is for 6th - 8th graders. Athletes must be at least 12 years old by September 1st.
- High School is for 9th - 12th graders. Athletes must be at least 15 years old by September 1st AND they cannot turn 19 before September 1st.

We hope that as our numbers grow, we will be able to expand the high school program and have a junior varsity (JV) team as well.

PRACTICE:

Training camp for the upcoming 2024 season will be Monday - Friday from 2:00-4:00pm, beginning on August 5th until our first game.

Once games begin our regular season practice schedule will continue as Monday - Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm with games on Fridays. The practices will be in Melissa or Allen.

GAMES:

Game location is TBD. Most regular season games are Friday nights with Middle School games usually beginning at 5/5:30pm and Varsity games usually beginning at 7/7:30 pm.

NOTE: The Varsity team will play their season opener on Sunday, Sept 1st at AT&T Stadium in the Homeschool Football Classic.

Once all the games for the 2024 season are solidified, the schedule (including location for home games) will be posted here on the website. Any changes made to the game schedule/location will be noted here on the website as well.

STATE TOURNAMENT:

At the conclusion of the regular season, the Varsity team participates in the Texas Homeschool State Tournament. It is spread over two weekends with both games played on Saturdays. The 2024 games will be played on November 2nd and November 9th. Location and time is TBD.

NATIONAL TOURNAMENT:

The Varsity team will participate in the American Homeschool Football Championship (AHFC) national tournament in Gulf Shores, AL. The tournament dates are November 20 - 24. Parents are responsible for transporting their athlete to/from the location.

COACHES & STAFF:

Reggie Davis is our head football coach. His four sons play(ed) on the Varsity team. Coach Davis played in the NFL and has been coaching for over 20 years with experience at all levels, from elementary flag teams to professional football teams.

Coach Davis and his coaching staff believe football is an incredible tool to teach the life lessons that are critical to developing these boys into young men who will be the leaders of tomorrow. Read more about our coaches here.

EXPECTATIONS:

Please read the HSAA Expectations form found here. We also require our players and parents to participate in both volunteering and fundraising.

Spring Ball:

Spring Ball consists of 13 practices (some padded) for high school. Middle school will not participate in Spring Ball. Spring Ball is when the coaches will evaluate the players and begin forming depth charts for the regular season. Everyone who wants to play needs to make every effort to attend Spring Ball.

For the upcoming 2024 season, spring practice will be during the month of May and will be in the evenings from 6-8pm on Mon, Thu, and Fri. Spring Ball practice location is McKinney North High School.

There is no additional cost for Spring Ball. However, athletes must be registered for the upcoming 2024 fall football season in order to participate in Spring Ball; as we will be issuing equipment at this time. As a reminder, when registering you may select the PAY IN FULL option or the monthly PAYMENT PLAN option. Payment is due in full by August 1st.

TRYOUTS / PLAYER EVALUATIONS:

We do not hold tryouts for the middle school team. If you register for middle school, you have a spot on the team - as long as we have enough equipment.

Player evaluations for high school will be held during Spring Ball to help determine skill level and placement on either JV or Varsity (assuming we have enough equipment and enough players to field both a JV and Varsity team).

7 ON 7:

The Varsity team will participate in 7 on 7 games every Tuesday night in the month of June. Game time and location TBD.

Summer Practices:

Practice in June will be Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Practice in July will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Summer practices will be in the McKinney / Frisco / Plano / Allen area.

PLAYER FEES:

The cost to participate in HSAA football for the 2024 season is $600 for high school and $450 for middle school. You may PAY IN FULL or select the monthly PAYMENT PLAN. Payment is due in full by August 1st. Please note the additional fees, options, and requirements below:

- There are additional fees for equipment rental (if needed): helmet +$100; shoulder pads +$50; If you are NOT renting a helmet because you already have one or plan to purchase one, your helmet MUST be WHITE with a NAVY BLUE facemask.

IMPORTANT Note About Purchasing Helmets: Please be advised if you decide to purchase a helmet that there are two classifications: Youth (middle school) and Adult (high school). Adult helmets can be worn for both middle school and high school. However, youth helmets can NOT be worn in high school. Therefore, if you purchase a youth helmet for your middle schooler, they will NOT be able to wear it when they move up to high school. Also, NOCSAE, the governing body for football helmet safety requires helmets to be reconditioned every other year.

- Each athlete is REQUIRED to fundraise $400 (unless the fundraising buy-out option is selected)

- Each athlete is REQUIRED to purchase their own cleats, mouth piece, leg pads*, white practice pants, and spirit pack.

* Leg pads: You have two options - 1) buy individual leg pads that can be inserted into the slots/pouches in the pants. 2) purchase a girdle which is compression shorts with the leg pads sewn in, in which case you may still need to buy knee pads. We suggest purchasing a girdle because it includes hip pads. FYI - our new game uniforms will NOT have leg pads already in them. Click here to see sample leg pads. Click here to see sample girdles.

Spirit pack includes the 2024 editions of the following: HSAA practice shirt (long or short sleeve), HSAA compression shirt, HSAA practice shorts, and HSAA practice jersey.  NOTE: The 2024 compression shirt and practice jersey are the same as the 2023 edition. Returning players who still have their compression shirt and practice jersey from the 2023 season, don't have to purchase those items.
